In an article published on October 13, 2025 by La Nouvelle République, journalist Raphaël Chambriard highlights the artistic journey and recognition of Touraine sculptor Pierre-Jean Chabert.
The artist has just exhibited in Fondettes, inaugurated a monumental sculpture, and released a book entitled Bestial, dedicated to his bronze and clay creations.
Based in La Morinerie (Saint-Pierre-des-Corps), Chabert’s bestiary includes lions, deer, hippos, and gorillas, rendered with striking realism and emotion.
“Animals appeal to me because they don’t have humanity’s flaws or lies. They live purely for survival.”
The article also explores his unique path: once an actor and then a financier, Chabert turned to sculpture at 32, studying modeling and exhibiting his first works in 2011.
“When a child dreams, you must pay attention.”
Now celebrated across France, Chabert continues to explore the interplay between emptiness and form, where each sculpture seems to breathe and move.
“The void exists because of the full; it allows the silhouette to exist and gives a contemporary touch to my work.”
