Description

Few sculptures reveal the teeth so openly. Sculptor Franz Xaver Messerschmidt had already explored this striking form of expression. As an integral part of anatomy, teeth can convey emotion, tension or sensation, introducing a raw and sometimes unsettling form of beauty. Here, the Bengal tiger, a formidable hunter, is captured mid-snarl. This bronze animal sculpture reveals the full power of the feline through a tense, offensive and intensely expressive grimace.
